Orthopedic footwear maker Webster Orthopedics is shutting its doors.
Its parent company, Orthopedical Shoes, has filed for bankruptcy protection in Delaware.
The company’s owners, Ortho-X, a privately held company, said it would shut down by March 1, 2018.
Webster said in a statement on Wednesday that it will “continue to operate as usual to support our patients and the communities we serve”.
“We are not going to make any further statements at this time,” it said.
In a statement, Orthos’ parent company OrthoX said the company was “not going to comment at this moment”.
“In our industry, there is a lot of uncertainty.
We are currently focused on our primary focus of supporting our customers,” Ortho X said in the statement.
A company spokesman said in an email that “due to the nature of our business, the company is not able to comment further at this stage”.
“As we continue to review our position, we will continue to share our thoughts with our investors,” the spokesman said.
Earlier this year, Orthotex filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The medical devices company was founded in 2002 by David Webster, who graduated from Harvard Business School in 1984.
It has a wide range of products that include orthotics, shoes and orthotic systems.

The site says Webster “created a successful orthopaedics company in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware, which has grown to be a worldwide leader in the field”.
“He is the only orthopedologist who is the founder of a worldwide medical devices and prosthetics manufacturer,” the website said.AOIS says it has more than 40,000 customers and employs about 700 people.
