A New York City orthopedist has become the “A” list orthopedists, earning more than $200,000 per year and being the first to earn a $1 million salary since the salary cap began in 2014.
According to the latest Forbes list, Anthony Raskin, MD, was the “most-valuable orthopedologist” at the 2016 Forbes Top 500, beating out other orthopedes like Dr. David Shirer, MD at $195,000.
Raskins salary comes from a combined 12 years of practice at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University.
Dr. Raska also had a record of more than 500 consecutive surgeries.
He has had surgery on more than 70 patients and treated more than 3,000 people with his specialty.
Dr Raskinos annual salary of $200K was $1.6M less than the $201,000 of Dr Shirers $1M salary, according to Forbes.
Dr Shire rakes in a whopping $300,000 yearly salary.
In 2014, Dr. Shire was ranked as the #2 orthopede at NewYork-Presbytery and was named “Most Valuable Orthopedist” by Forbes.
He is also the first orthopediologist to earn more than one million dollars per year in a single year.
Dr Srivastava’s annual salary was $200k more than the first year he earned.
Dr Sharma, MD was the second-most valuable orthopedis at the top of the list, according the Forbes ranking.
He was also named “Athlete of the Year” by the Society of Sports Medicine and was also the second most highly paid orthopediologist in the United States.
Dr Shivashankar Sharma, who also works at the New York State Orthopedics Institute, earned $175K more than Dr Sharma earned.
In 2016, Dr Sharma had surgery to repair a broken left knee and also treated a man who had a severe head injury.
Sharma is the only orthopedian at the medical school at Columbia University who is also a surgeon, according a tweet from his personal website.
Dr Laxmi Sharma, a neurosurgeon at New Yorkers Orthopedical Institute, has earned $100K more from his surgery than he earned as a surgeon.
Dr M.K. Gupta, a surgical specialist at New Manhattan Hospital, earned an additional $100,000 from his orthopedically treated patient.
Dr Amit Singh, MD is the highest-paid orthopedician in the world.
Dr Rajendra Kumar, MD who is the director of orthopediatrics at New Hope Hospital, was awarded $120K more by Forbes for his work.
Dr Shankar Kapoor, MD earned an $85,000 bonus for his treatment of an elderly patient.
Dr Kapoor is also named the most valuable orthopaedic surgeon in the U.S. Dr Sharma also earned a $75,000 salary.
Dr Vijay M. Kumar, a doctor of orthopastry at New Delhi Orthopaedics Institute earned $75K more.
